originally an old auto garage, we managed to breath some new life into it, transforming a dumpy metal shed (that we probably could've pushed over with enough guys) into east austin's newest drinking and dining destination.

the original home is on the left, with the new addition on the right. 

we'll be adding a new home-office and laundry room within the ‘connecting arm', and the entire downstairs of the new wing will be the new master suite.  upstairs will be a media and rumpus-room for all the kiddos - young and old(er).

adding to the home's sustainability, the new metal roof will contribute to the home's rainwater collection system, which provides for all the family’s water needs.

Residential remodel of an original 2bed /1 bath (1100sf) bungalow, to a more “family-ready” 3200sf 4 bed / 2.5 bath with media room and home studio.

The project was featured in the 2010 Austin Cool Homes tour, which showcases progressively designed “Green” homes.  The home received 4 out 5 stars from Austin’s Green Builder Program, a future solar array will earn it its final star.

This site proved both challenging and inspirational, primarily because the site was only 40′ at it’s widest, with an impressively massive Live Oak directly in the middle of the most usable portion of the site.

Ultimately, the owner wanted to be able to have an office in front that would be more accessible to the general public, while also creating a sense of privacy for the residence in the back of the site.   An additional request for the residence was that it be designed and built it in such a way that it would be 'light' and neutral, so that he could fill the various spaces and volumes with his extensive and ecclectic art collection.

As the result, a workshop and studio/office wraps the Oak in front, while the three-story residence (with lofted dining/living spaces and the master suite on the top floor) rises in back, to take advantage of the site’s central location and amazing downtown panoramas.

Early designs for a model home and community center in the Eco-Development of Los Arboles Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

The project has helped to establish the precedent for conservational development in Mexico, requiring the aquisition of at least 5 acre tracts, with a maximum of 10% of that land capable of being developed.

Additionally, all homes must be net-zero/off-grid construction, promoting solar, wind, and plant-based water treatment systems.

The project was to be built of Rammed-Earth Walls, with an extensive Rainwater Catchment System, Full Solar, Extensive Daylighting and Passive Ventilation strategies, as well as utilizing Geothermal from a nearby body of water.

A new 1600+sf cabin in the hill country outside of Austin, Tx. 

Designed to utilize natural ventilation and daylighting, the home is comfortable year round without the aid of an HVAC system.

The home was also designed with its own rainwater catchment system, and is capable of being converted to solar whenever the owner opts to finally convert the home over.
